According to this report, the average U.S. citizen is not aware of the implications of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Thus, this report is an attempt to offer its readers a glimpse of the intended benefits of the act, as well as the intentions and actions of telecommunications and media conglomerates that have worked hard to marr the act's original intent. The article concludes with a prediction of continued deregulation, challenging its readers to choose sides by echoing the question posed by BellSouth's CEO, "Can competition do a better job than traditional utility regulation."
