As part of its initial feasibility study the Wireless Philadelphia project defined five possible business models for their municipal wireless network based on studies of other projects, often small-scale ones: Public Community, Private Consortium, Cooperative Wholesale, Public Utility/Authority, Non-Profit. This section (p. 30-34) of the business plan provides concise definitions of each of these models, and describes the process by which Wireless Philadelphia choose a model for themselves. Use this resource to think about different business model options for a broadband network in your community, and which model best aligns with the goals you have for your network.
