Evaluating Community Technology Centers (CTCs) Project (2002).
An Ideal CTC: Strategies for Community Development from Austin Community Technology Centers. LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin. http://www.utexas.edu/lbj/rhodesprp/01_02/
This is the report of a research group that investigated community technology centers in Austin. Based on their research they have developed a model for an ideal CTC, which is presented here (summarized on p. 5). Ideal CTCs should meet certain criteria in terms of Vision and Community Ownership, Comprehensive Programming, Learning Opportunities, Self-Reliance, and Social Capital. The report can help CTCs develop. In addition, it can help communities to understand the potential role of CTCs as part of a larger connectivity strategy, such one that may include a building a community broadband network.
