This resource is handy for anyone interested in the fate of the internet, and wishing to speak with or write to a member of the legislature. The talking points are divided into two columns, one stating demands and the other considering the problems with recent legislation. It is suggested that the demands begin with the recognition of municipal broadband as a legitimate model, that public involvement be required in hearings, telecommunications companies have an obligation to the communities they serve, network neutrality be maintained, and competition encouraged. Suggested areas of legislative critique are listed as follows: fading network neutrality, lack of competition, current law tending to be too laissez-faire, and the fast-tracking of franchising limited to telecommunications companies.
